Summary

This program explains community-acquired pneumonia and hospital-acquired pneumonia and describes possible complications, if left untreated. It shows patients and family members common non-invasive methods of diagnosis, like X-ray, and as well as possible invasive procedures that may be performed, especially in debilitated patients (Thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, Bronchoscopy, Lung Biopsy, and Thoracotomy). The video emphasizes that patients need to take an active role in treatment leading up to discharge from the hospital. It covers breathing exercises, controlled coughing, spirometry, walking or other activity, resting, taking medications, and eating right to regain strength.
