This baby-friendly program gives parents an overview of their newborn’s basic needs, helping them begin to bond with their baby. It covers: breastfeeding, how to bathe a newborn, care of circumcision, umbilical cord care, baby’s first stools, diaper rash, dressing a baby, safest sleeping positions, crying and comforting, swaddling, colic,the PKU test, shape of the baby’s head, red marks, crossed eyes, periodic breathing, baby’s fingernails, temperature taking, and when to contact the healthcare provider. It gives an overview of baby safety including bathing, water temperature, crib safety, child’s toys, and car seat type and use. The program also points out the benefits of following the immunization schedule.
