This is one of a six part series of programs aimed at helping heart attack survivors make necessary lifestyle changes. It is made up of interviews with actual patients from across the United States and is hosted by Murray Rubin, himself a heart attack survivor.
Smoking accelerates atherosclerosis and all the other risk factors of heart disease.
Ways to quit:
- behaviour modification with a counselor
- nicotine-based smoking aids
- enlist help of friends and family
- tapering off
- cold turkey
- look at each day as a milestone
Make sure you set realistic goals.
If you don't quit, keep trying until you do. Take it one day at a time.
