CORE PROGRAM: This program teaches pregnant women who have gestational diabetes how to keep their blood glucose in a safe and healthy range for the remainder of their pregnancy. It explains the condition, the risk factors, and gives an overview of the management plan. It covers healthy food choices, physical activity, monitoring ketones and blood glucose, and medications if needed. Three goals of treatment are presented- healthy blood glucose, healthy weight gain, and avoiding ketones. Up-to-date meters, insulin, and pens are shown in the appropriate sections.
In this edition, there is more emphasis on the increased risk of the mother developing type 2 diabetes. It is also mentioned that the baby may be more likely to become an obese child.

HOW THIS DVD WILL HELP YOU: Gestational Diabetes uses DVD technology to provide a more personal learning experience. A patient can select a chapter based on their situation. If their medication is dispensed with a pen, they don’t need to view the demo on using a syringe. Or if they are concerned about monitoring, they can watch a more in-depth segment instead of the overview.
For an additional fee, you can add this program to the TV system in your hospital or other facility. You can add it as a continuous program or as individual chapters.
January 2009 release
All are available as DVDs.
