Summary
After outlining what type 2 diabetes is and the five parts of a treatment plan, this program takes young viewers through the steps that will keep them feeling better and on the road to self-managing their diabetes. Teens with diabetes, who make these choices everyday at home and at school, share their healthy food selections and snacking tips. They encourage other young people with diabetes to find exercises they enjoy and incorporate them into their busy teen life. Viewers are also encouraged to educate themselves about type 2 diabetes, monitor their blood glucose regularly and take medications as prescribed. This video gives young people and their parents information about the building blocks to a healthy lifestyle for a lifetime. (Teen patients featured in the video range in age from 11 to 18.)
