Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Milner-Fenwick?
Milner-Fenwick, Inc. is a nationally-recognized producer and distributor of patient education videos. We have been serving the healthcare community for over 30 years. With an exclusive commitment to the healthcare market, we offer more videos targeted to specific medical conditions and procedures than any other publisher in our industry.
What kind of products do you offer?
Milner-Fenwick publishes one of the largest libraries of patient education covering many areas of health and medicine. Our library now includes four product lines: Over 200 In-Facility videos (many of them produced with leading medical associations); In-Home videos designed as giveaways for patients; nearly 500 HealthClips®, including the HealthClips® Rx Application; and Waiting Room DVDs. We offer products in a variety of digital formats, appropriate for use over On-Demand TV systems, websites, or other video delivery methods. In addition to video, we offer selected PowerPoint® units and print products.
Who uses Milner-Fenwick's products?
Our programs can be found in thousands of hospitals across the US as well as in HMOs, medical clinics, physician practices and health departments. While most of our customers are healthcare professionals who use videos in traditional settings, other clients include pharmaceutical companies, corporate medical departments, home health agencies, and health insurance companies. We provide health information resources to anyone with a need to communicate their health message in a visual way.
What are the benefits of using your products?
Our programs save health educators and clinicians time by answering basic questions about managing chronic conditions, recovery guidelines after surgery, medication and patient safety, acute conditions and symptoms, and much more. The programs also go a long way toward increasing patient understanding, compliance and satisfaction.
Our high quality patient education videos help support the goals of government agencies like the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and accrediting organizations like the Joint Commission for improved patient care. They offer healthcare providers a solution to reduce readmission rates, by empowering patients to take an active role in their own care and prevent infections, accidents, and complications. Many of our videos are designed especially for education at hospital discharge.
Because our programs enhance the patient experience they will help hospitals improve HCAHPS scores for patient satisfaction. When you use Milner-Fenwick videos throughout your facility and on your website, patients will know that you care about them before, during, and after their visit.
What is the difference between our product lines?
Our in-facility video programs average 15-20 minutes in length and are designed to show to patients during their healthcare visit or hospital stay. They can be used in outpatient classes, over the hospital TV system, and other viewing environments. Many of them are also appropriate for use on a healthcare website.
Our home videos are designed to give to the patient at the time of discharge. Recognizing that patients are often discharged very quickly from their hospital stay, the home videos were created to provide a much more in-depth educational experience. They are typically 1-2 hours in length and chapter coded so that patients or their family can quickly locate topics of interest. Home videos are sold in bulk and typically priced under $10 each.
Videos purchased in bulk for "In-Home" use are not licensed for use within a public institution unless specified in writing. No public performance rights are provided.
Customize them by simply adding your facility’s name and logo to the packaging or we create a completely unique product for you. Let us know your needs.
Our newest line of videos now includes nearly 500 videos, averaging 3 minutes in length. They are especially developed for healthcare websites, video on-demand TV systems, and other interactive learning environments. These short “building block” videos let you create menus of topics. Viewers can access the specific information they want to see. Each video focuses on a single health topic, like condition-specific symptoms, for example or tips for quitting smoking.
Our HealthClips® Rx app allows healthcare providers to prescribe patient education. It’s integrates with EMRs and gives healthcare providers feedback about what patients watched.
Waiting Room DVDs:
Each waiting room DVD contains nearly 2 hours of HealthClips® videos interspersed with health tips and facts. They play continuously and automatically repeat, so they require no staff attention. We can create custom presentations for your facility. We’ve had many customers use our video presentations and add their own screens for health tips and facts.
