This unit focuses on the clinical, pathologic and pathophysiologic aspects of diseases of the esophagus and stomach with emphasis on peptic disorders. Major sections deal with esophagitis, both secondary to infections and gastroesophageal reflux; Barrett's esophagus; gastritis, both acute and chronic; cyto-protection; atrophic gastritis; gastrinoma; gastric ulcer; duodenal ulcer and duodenitis. A full range of imaging techniques including X-ray, radioautograph, and endoscopy are used to illustrate this unit along with microscopic and gross photography.
