Topics include assessment of severity; recognition and treatment of pancreatic infection; innovative treatment of pseudocysts; evaluation of recurrent pancreatitis; new tests of pancreatic function; evaluation and treatment of pain; treatment of steatorrhea; and surgical strategies. The slides illustrate important problems in pancreatitis such as pancreas divisum, pancreatic necrosis, pseudoaneurysm, splenic vein thrombosis, common bile duct obstruction, pancreatic ascites, and pancreatic trauma. A broad range of histologic and imaging techniques are presented throughout this unit, including ERCP, computed tomography, and ultrasound.
